Few things beat exploring the rainforest on horseback. We start at a base in Herradura, 10 minutes from Jacó and Los Sueños, and ride across a private 80-acre property with well-cared-for horses and Pacific Ocean views. The goal: private waterfalls with natural pools for swimming.

Along the way you pass farms and climb up through the forest, with a good chance of spotting toucans, scarlet macaws and white-faced monkeys. At the waterfalls you have time to relax, swim in the pools and try the natural slide. Your bilingual guide hands out bottled water during the ride, and fresh tropical fruit is waiting for you at the end. Professional photographers capture the best moments, and photos are available for purchase after the tour.
