Who we are
Vivencias Tropicales is a tour agency in Costa Rica. We run some tours ourselves and others are run by local companies we work with. By booking on this website or in the app, you accept these terms.
Bookings and payments
Prices are per person and published in US dollars. You can pay in dollars or Costa Rican colones; in colones we use the Central Bank selling rate at the moment you book, and that amount stays fixed. When you hold a booking, we keep your seats for 15 minutes. The booking is confirmed only once the payment is approved: that is when you get the confirmation email and the voucher. Payments are processed by OnvoPay; we never see your card details.
Travelers and documents
Every traveler, children included, is registered with their name and ID document. On the day of the tour, everyone’s documents are checked: if the details given when booking do not match the document, the corresponding fare difference is charged. Minors always travel with a responsible adult. The age of each group (infant, child, adult and senior) is the one shown on each tour.
If you cancel
You can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before departure: we refund the full amount. With less than 48 hours’ notice, or if you do not show up, there is no refund, because the seats are already committed to the operator. You can also change the date free of charge up to 48 hours before, subject to availability; if the new date has a different price, the difference is adjusted. To cancel or change the date, write to us with your booking code.
If we cancel
If the tour cannot run because of the weather, safety, a park closure or any other reason beyond your control, we offer you another date or a full refund, whichever you prefer.
Refunds
Refunds go back to the same payment method, through OnvoPay, in the currency you paid in. Depending on your bank, they can take 5 to 10 business days to show in your account.
During the tour
Be on time at the meeting point shown on your voucher: if you are late, the tour leaves without you and there is no refund. Check each tour’s difficulty and length, and tell us before booking about any health or mobility condition. Always follow the guide’s instructions: the operator may exclude anyone who puts themselves or the group at risk. The itinerary may change because of the weather or traffic.
Liability
Outdoor activities carry their own risks. Operators must hold the permits and insurance required by law. Each person is responsible for their own belongings during the tour.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, including Law 7472 on Competition and Effective Consumer Protection. If we change these terms, the version that applies to your booking is the one in force on the day you booked.
